God has entrusted us with one of his most precious gifts - loving and caring for His children. Our Children's Ministry at First Baptist Church of Shawnee seeks to plant the seeds of God's goodness and grace. There are many opportunities for your children here including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, choir programs and so much more.
First Baptist Church Children's Choirs
First Baptist Church of Shawnee will begin its unique children's choir program August 29. The choirs meet Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:15 p.m..
The theme for this year is "Fruit of the Spirit" and is based on Galatians 5:22-23. Through music and learning activities, children will experience the joy of worship and learn about the godly characteristics of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
On most Wednesday evenings during the school year, the ministry rehearses three choirs, divided by age groups, each directed by a different volunteer musician from the church.
All the choirs last an hour, except for the youngest, the preschool choir, which has a 30-minute rehearsal followed by a 30-minute world missions emphasis.
The age limits are geared to those of public school (child's age by Sept 1).
Caitlyn Norwood, Heather Todd, and Audrey Hawkins direct the Preschool Choir, a choir for 3-years through Pre-K.
LaHoma Singleton, Sandy Devine, and Phil Todd direct the first through third-grade children in Music Makers.
Conchita Hansford, Carol Bell, and Braden Norwood direct the children in fourth - sixth grades in Young Musicians.
