FIRST CONNECTIONS – August 10, 2018

First Baptist Church Shawnee

Be Disciples. Make Disciples.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

Finance Committee Meeting          4:00 pm Sunday, August 12

Family Promise

Family Promise guests will not be staying at the church this week. There are too many guests in the program to be accommodated at the church.  We only have 14 beds and there are 17 guests!  We do have a need for people to help with preparing and delivering food around 6PM every evening to the Day Center where our guests will be staying.  If you signed up to spend the evening or to overnight, you might consider talking to the person bringing food to see if you can team up with them to help Thursday and Friday's food is covered by our helper church, but First Baptist will cover the other nights including Saturday.  We have 5 adults, 10 elementary-aged kids and 1 toddler in this group (and a 4-month old baby who will be fed by mom).

Youth/Parent Luncheon

Sunday (8/12), immediately following the morning service, come & meet our new Student Minister Andrew and his wife Payton at our Youth/Parent Luncheon!

Counters Needed

The counting committee is looking for new members to help count Sunday’s offerings. If interested, please contact the church office

Welcome Center Volunteers Needed

The Welcome Center Team is looking for more smiling faces to provide an inviting space for members and visitors on Sunday morning.  We also assist visitors to find a class or the service of their choice. Come be a part of our Team!  Contact Shelby Jones in the church office or Robbie Henson at (405) 620-2790.

Teacher School Supply Drive

August 5-September 2

We all know that teachers spend a lot of their own money to get extra supplies for their classrooms. We feel our church members would like to give back to teachers by helping with some of the supplies teachers find themselves running out of.

There are bins to put your donations in at the Welcome Center. Thank you for helping support our teachers.
