FIRST CONNECTIONS – July 6, 2018

First Baptist Church Shawnee

Be Disciples. Make Disciples.

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.

Do not be afraid, for I am with you.

Isaiah 43:1-2, 4-5; NIV

July 1st, Celebrate your Country Day: Dress up to show your love for your country! America, France, Mexico, where ever you are from, celebrate it! Let’s bring out all the countries and cultures that make this church so special!

July 8th, Hawaiian Shirt Day: Dust off your favorite visor and an old pair of khakis for this day! Dress for the summer with your best Hawaiian shirt!

July 15th, Western Day: Bring out your country boots and cowgirl hats for Western day!

July 22nd, Favorite Team Day: OU, OSU, the Thunder, whatever your favorite team is, come and represent! All fans are welcome!

FBC Legacy Ministry

The FBC Legacy Ministry provides opportunity to invest in the future ministry of FBC through gifts that become a part of our Legacy Ministry Fund.  The Fund provides a cash distribution each year which is used to fund needs that are outside the annual budget.  The Legacy Ministry Committee is currently seeking input on how best to invest the current year distribution of $3200.00 in FBC ministries.  In past years we have funded needs in the nursery, children’s areas, and fellowship hall, provided scholarships for youth activities, and funded ministry interns.

If you have a request, please submit it to the church office in writing by Sunday, July 29, 2018.  The Legacy Committee will review the requests and bring a recommendation to the church.  If you would like more information about the FBC Legacy Ministry and how you can impact the ministry of FBC beyond your lifetime, please contact the church office.

Celebrate Recovery

Our step-study groups have now closed to work on the inventory process.  Please keep watching for more information in the future months about CR here at FBC – it is looking promising!  We appreciate everyone’s prayers!  For more information, contact Ray/Audrey Rose or Mark/Mary Lively; we are committed to confidentiality in this program.
