FIRST CONNECTIONS – July 13, 2018

First Baptist Church Shawnee

Be Disciples. Make Disciples.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. … May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:5-7, 13; NIV

Summer Movie Evening hosted by FBC Women's Ministry

Sunday, July 22nd @ 5:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall

We will be showing The Red Tent based on the book by Anita Diamant staring Minnie Driver, Morena Baccarin, Rebecca Ferguson, Iain Glen and Debra Winger.

This is a story about how women handed down wisdom through storytelling in the red tent told through the eyes of Jacob and Leah's daughter, Dinah.  The movie is not rated and anyone is invited, but it's important for those attending to know it contains some mature material.

Please bring a sweet or salty snack to share, drinks will be provided.

Let's use this event to be a blessing and support to other women! Please bring a package of feminine hygiene products as a donation.  They will be given to high school counselors who often assist young women whose attendance at school is affected because of lack of products.  Beginning Sunday morning on the 22nd, we will have a box by the door of fellowship hall to collect donations so you may bring them that day in the morning or the evening.

The movie will begin shortly after 5:00 p.m. and runs for 176 min.  If this is longer than you can stay or if you are not available to attend, the DVD will be available for check-out in the church office following the event.

FBC Legacy Ministry

The FBC Legacy Ministry provides opportunity to invest in the future ministry of FBC through gifts that become a part of our Legacy Ministry Fund.  The Fund provides a cash distribution each year which is used to fund needs that are outside the annual budget.  The Legacy Ministry Committee is currently seeking input on how best to invest the current year distribution of $3200.00 in FBC ministries.  In past years we have funded needs in the nursery, children’s areas, and fellowship hall, provided scholarships for youth activities, and funded ministry interns.

If you have a request, please submit it to the church office in writing by Sunday, July 29, 2018.  The Legacy Committee will review the requests and bring a recommendation to the church.  If you would like more information about the FBC Legacy Ministry and how you can impact the ministry of FBC beyond your lifetime, please contact the church office.
