First Connections June 14, 2018

First Baptist Church Shawnee

Be Disciples. Make Disciples.

Arise, shine. Put your face in the sunlight.

God’s bright glory has risen for you.

The whole earth is wrapped in darkness,

All people sunk in deep darkness,

But God rises on you,

His sunrise glory breaks over you.

From Isaiah 60:1-2, The Message

Casual Summer at FBC - July Theme Days:

For the month of July, FBC will be having themed Sundays! Each Sunday there will be a new theme that you can choose to dress up for during the services. Be creative, and most importantly, have fun!

July 1st, Celebrate your Country Day: Dress up to show your love for your country! America, France, Mexico, where ever you are from, celebrate it! Let’s bring out all the countries and cultures that make this church so special!

July 8th, Hawaiian Shirt Day: Dust off your favorite visor and an old pair of khakis for this day! Dress for the summer with your best Hawaiian shirt!

July 15th, Western Day: Bring out your country boots and cowgirl hats for Western day!

July 22nd, Favorite Team Day: OU, OSU, the Thunder, whatever your favorite team is, come and represent! All fans are welcome!

Welcome Shelby Jones and Becky Formby!

Please make the new secretarial staff at First Baptist feel welcome; they both will start officially next Monday, June 18. They are top notch and we are very lucky to have them here!  Shelby will be Church Secretary and Becky will be Financial Secretary. Training went well this week – thank you for your prayers. Mary

Pool Party with a Purpose

This coming Wednesday night; 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the Mullin’s, 23630 Skagg City Road, Tecumseh, Ok. Swimming, pizza, we will continue our devotions on the Armor of God! Contact Elaine Hawkins for more info.

Counters Needed

It is best to have a minimum of three persons to count the tithes and offerings every Monday morning and one or two others as back-ups in case someone is sick, traveling, etc. With Mary leaving, we are in need of at least one other person to step up and help.  If interested, please call the church office, 275-6111. Thank you!

Celebrate Recovery

Our step-study groups have now closed to work on the inventory process.  Please keep watching for more information in the future months about CR here at FBC – it is looking promising!  We appreciate everyone’s prayers!  For more information, contact Ray/Audrey Rose or Mark/Mary Lively; we are committed to confidentiality in this program.
