FIRST CONNECTIONS – September 1, 2017
First Baptist Church Shawnee
Be Disciples. Make Disciples.
“Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built this house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.”
(Jesus words in Matthew 6:24-27)
Pray for all those affected by the recent storms – many have tragically lost their homes/churches/work places and much more. We don’t know yet how many lives have been lost. Praise God for the lives that were spared and humbly pray that those struggling with the physical rebuilding may find a way to rebuild their spiritual “houses” on the Rock of Jesus Christ. Mary
Sermon, Sunday, September 3, 2017: “Biblical Unity”; Ephesians 4:1-6; Paul Stevens
CONGREGATIONAL SURVEY – PASTOR SEARCH
The Pastor Search Committee invites you to complete a survey regarding what characteristics you believe are most important in the next pastor of First Baptist Church. The surveys will be available in the traditional service, the contemporary service and at the Welcome Center until September 10. Please leave the completed surveys in the boxes located in the auditorium vestibule, at the Welcome Center or at the Fellowship Hall door. You may also leave them in the offertory plate. Please continue to pray with us that God will prepare our next pastor for us and that He will make us sensitive to His leading in finding that person.
