First Baptist Church Shawnee

Be Disciples. Make Disciples.

“And he said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation.” Luke 11:2-4 (RSV)

Teacher School Supply Drive

July 16-August 20

We all know that teachers spend a lot of their own money to get extra supplies for their classrooms. We feel our church members would like to give back to teachers by helping with some of the supplies teachers find themselves running out of. We will be contacting our teachers here at FBC for their supply lists, but in the meantime, below is a list of ideas. There are bins to put your donations in at the Welcome Center. A Hand Up Hygiene Drive:

There are boxes located in the church office to collect hygiene drive items. The drive is sponsored by TEEM: “an interfaith 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to breaking the cycles of incarceration and poverty through education, personal development, and work readiness training.” Kris Steele called the church and asked permission to place these boxes. If you would like to donate, the items are just basis hygiene needs or you can also look at the list of items on the side of each box.

 Teller Help Needed

We have a committee which is called the Tellers, whose sole purpose is to count the offerings, make out the deposit forms, and get the money to the bank weekly. We are in need of someone as a back-up Teller, just in case someone (like Mary) is having health difficulties and cannot be there. It would just be an occasional job and full training is provided – although none of it is very difficult. Call Mary – 275-6111 – if you are interested or if you would like more info.

Instant Church Directory App

This is a reminder that our Pictorial Directory that was put together a few years back has an app that you can easily use on your smart phone. With this app, you can look up fellow church members, their addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. It is very handy to have. Here is how: 1) Just make sure that you have a current, working email address that has been entered into the pictorial directory information; if you are not sure about this, just call Mary and we can figure it out. 2) Go to your app store on your smart phone and download the free app named “Instant Church Directory” . 3) The app will prompt you to create and enter a password. That’s all there is to it, but if it is still daunting, swing on by the office & we’ll try to help you with it.

If you move or change your phone number or email address, please contact us at the church office so we can make the changes to the church directory and database. (Call 275-6111 or email Thank you!  Mary
