First Baptist Church Shawnee
Be Disciples. Make Disciples.
“And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2
Sermon, Sunday, July 2, 2017: “Ahithophel”; Romans 12:21; Paul Stevens
Contemporary Worship Service
We now have a Contemporary Worship Service in Fellowship Hall at 10:45 am, going on at the same time as the Traditional Worship Service in the Sanctuary. As we begin adjusting to some new logistics that come with this, we will be forgoing the Children's Sermon for the summer. Nursery and Kid's Chapel also available for the new service.
The church office will be closed this coming Tuesday, July 4 for Independence Day – enjoy your holiday!
Teller Help Needed
We have a committee which is called the Tellers, whose sole purpose is to count the offerings, make out the deposit forms, and get the money to the bank weekly. We are in need of someone as a back-up Teller, just in case someone (like Mary) is having health difficulties and cannot be there. It would just be an occasional job and full training is provided – although none of it is very difficult. Call Mary – 275-6111 – if you are interested or if you would like more info.
POOLS NEEDED THIS SUMMER!
We are looking forward to our Pool Parties with a Purpose for the kids through 6th grade on Wednesday nights this summer! To help with costs, we would love for any church member who has a pool in their backyard to volunteer to host 1 pool party this summer.
Here are the dates we need pools, from 5:30pm-7pm each night:
June 7 – Thank you DeeAnn Schroyer!
June 14 – Thank you to the Cragins!
June 21 – Town and Country pool
July 12 – Town and Country pool
July 19 – Thanks Tony McMurry!
August 2 – Thank you Field family!
The church will provide all food and drinks, and also a lifeguard for the event.
Instant Church Directory App
This is a reminder that our Pictorial Directory that was put together a few years back has an app that you can easily use on your smart phone. With this app, you can look up fellow church members, their addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. It is very handy to have. Here is how: 1) Just make sure that you have a current, working email address that has been entered into the pictorial directory information; if you are not sure about this, just call Mary and we can figure it out. 2) Go to your app store on your smart phone and download the free app named “Instant Church Directory” . 3) The app will prompt you to create and enter a password. That’s all there is to it, but if it is still daunting, swing on by the office & we’ll try to help you with it – Mary.
First Baptist Church Sisters in Christ – Movie Night - July 29, 7:00 pm in Fellowship Hall
Lost and Found – Last Call
Towards the end of next week, the current Lost and Found bounty will be taken to a good cause – Goodwill or Salvation Army. This will NOT include: prescription glasses, wallets, Bibles, keys, or other extremely vital stuff. It WILL include: sunglasses, jackets, umbrellas, cups, costume jewelry, etc. Please have a look at the loot before it is gone to see if any of it belongs to you. You can find it in the workroom (across from the church office) – on the computer desk just next to the laminator.
Give Online. It’s Easy!
FBC is excited to announce that you can now manage your giving On-Line! Giving On-Line is easy and allows you to set up automatic recurring contributions and view your complete giving history from anywhere you have internet access. Go to our websitewww.firstshawnee.com/give for more details.
If you move or change your phone number or email address, please contact us at the church office so we can make the changes to the church directory and database. (Call 275-6111 or email firstname.lastname@example.org) Thank you! Mary
