First Baptist Church Shawnee

Be Disciples. Make Disciples.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matt. 9:36-38

Everyone is invited! Please come!

October is Fire Prevention Month

If you have a closet/closets at the church which you regularly use, please make a plan to clean these out sometime during the month of October. Clean closets are safer closets. We don’t want to restrict you by dictating exactly when or how this will happen, but please send an email to the church and just let us know your plan. Thanks a bunch!

Celebrate Recovery at First Baptist Church, Shawnee

Celebrate Recovery is a non-denominational, inclusive, biblical recovery program for those struggling with anything from ordinary daily strongholds in their life to those with addictions of any kind. It is handled with confidentiality, is church sponsored, has strict accountability for all leaders. Below is a description straight from the CR web site:

“Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program that helps us overcome our hurts, hang-ups, and habits.  It is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory.  25 years ago, Saddleback Church launched Celebrate Recovery with 43 people. It was designed as a program to help those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups by showing them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process. Celebrate Recovery has helped more than 17000 people at Saddleback, attracting over 70% of its members from outside the church. Eighty-five percent of the people who go through the program stay with the church and nearly half serve as church volunteers. Celebrate Recovery is now in over 29,000 churches worldwide!”

We are currently planning for a leadership training for Celebrate Recovery here at FBC, starting very soon. If you have any interest in working in a program like this, please call Audrey at 918-557-7862, Ray at 918-557-7863, Mary at 275-6111, or Mark at 765-4759.  All inquiries will be handled confidentially.
