First Connections – May 6, 2016

The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars, he gives to all of them their names. Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. Psalm 147:2-5

Re: Closet Clean-up scheduled for May 14 at 8:30 am

Recently, during Church Council meeting, the subject of closets came up.

We all know there are many, many closets around FBC and most of these are being used. However, quite a few of these closets contain not only good, useful materials but old stuff as well. And then there are the closets stuffed full of many treasures that no one seems to have used for years.

It was pointed out that cluttered and dusty closets could present a fire danger, so staff has put a clean-up day on the calendar. Our thought is that if you are a committee person, Sunday School leader, etc. and you have a closet your group uses for your ministry, then you are the logical person/s to clean it out. We will also need some extra help for these old forgotten closets that I mentioned.

Please mark your calendars for the morning of May 14.

Minister to Youth and Families

Brandon McClure was voted in as our new Minister to Youth and Families.

He will start Sunday May 22. Please keep him in your prayers.

Missions Committee

We are co-sponsoring a mission trip to the Dominican Republic where Mary Chung Feller’s mother is a resident missionary. The OBU vocal group, Voce Vera, will be leading in multi-ministry effort. Carlos and Mary will be leaders in this effort, too.

  • Please pray for them as they leave on a 10 day trip starting May 25.
  • Also, please help by donating any musical instruments, especially guitars, a special request for a saxophone, and keyboards that are in good condition, hopefully including the carrying case. These are needed ASAP! They leave for the DR on May 25 and they need to go over the instrument to prepare it for use and shipping, May 15th, would be the deadline. Please bring these donations to the church office.

Missions team thanks you, and asks for your prayers and support. God bless you for all that you do for Him.
