First Connections – May 13, 2016

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make melody to our God upon the lyre! He covers the heavens with clouds, he prepares rain for the earth, he makes grass grow upon the hills. He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens which cry. Psalm 147:7-9

Minister to Youth and Families

Please welcome Brandon McClure, our new Minister to Youth and Families.

He will start Sunday May 22. Please keep him in your prayers.

Closet Clean-up scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at 8:30 am

We have had several members sign up to help Saturday by cleaning out a closet. We still have closets available. If you find you can help Saturday and have not chosen a particular closet, please know that there will be “Closet available” signs on the closets that have not been picked. You may come by Sat. morning and stay as long as you are able. Also – things removed from the closets that are not total trash may be donated to the Youth Fundraiser Garage Sale, by placing them in the west end of Fellowship Hall.

Youth Garage Sale Fundraiser

The youth sale to help fund their summer mission camp will be held on May 27-28. If you have donations, you may bring them anytime. We have made room on the west end of Fellowship Hall to keep these things until the sale.

This Sunday, May 15, we will honor our First Baptist high school graduates during morning worship.

Missions Committee

We are co-sponsoring a mission trip to the Dominican Republic where Mary Chung Feller’s mother is a resident missionary. The OBU vocal group, Voce Vera, will be leading in multi-ministry effort. Carlos and Mary will be leaders in this effort, too.

  • Please pray for them as they leave on a 10 day trip starting May 25.
  • Also, please help by donating any musical instruments, especially guitars, a special request for a saxophone, and keyboards that are in good condition, hopefully including the carrying case. These are needed ASAP! They leave for the DR on May 25 and they need to go over the instrument to prepare it for use and shipping, May 15th, would be the deadline. Please bring these donations to the church office.

Missions team thanks you, and asks for your prayers and support. God bless you for all that you do for Him.
