First Connections – December 16, 2016
First Baptist Church Shawnee
Be Disciples. Make Disciples.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined…For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:2 & 6
Preaching Sunday, December 18 in the Morning Worship – Paul Stevens
Finding Glory and Peace in Christ, Luke 2:8-14
We are getting giving tree forms turned back in to the office daily now; please don’t forget to turn your form in (or at least give us a call) as soon as you deliver your gift.
Several of you have helped out by coming and getting an extra bag or picking up some bags to shop for and deliver (we have funds available to reimburse you for the shopping.) We still have 15 bags to go – if you would like to help, the bags are now located on the table in the work room across from the church office. Please remember to leave your signed green slips on Mary’s desk.

Year– End Contribution Policy
Bring any 2016 contributions in person to the FBC church office no later than 10:00 am on Friday, December 30. In order to comply with IRS regulations, any mailed 2016 contribution to FBC must be postmarked by December 31, 2016. Contributions postmarked after this date (even if the check is written in 2016) must be reported as 2017 contributions. IRS guidelines require that members who wish to itemize deductions must have a copy of the church’s contribution report when filing an income tax return. Reports will be available in January.
We plan to start back in January. Please email Jamie Hembree if you are interested and to let her know when would be a good time/day for you.
