First Connections – March 13, 2015

Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy! Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and melodious song, with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn. Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King!     Psalm 98:4-6

-Also “Weekday School” appears on two Designated Accounts. The Finance Committee recommends  deleting “Weekday School” from the O’Neal Children’s Fund and Pop Machine Fund.

 * The Constitution Committee recommends the re-designation of the Hospitality Committee, the Kitchen Committee, the Ordinance Committee, and the University Ministries Committee as Ministry Teams and the elimination of the Weekday School Committee.

FBC Downtown Neighborhood Workday

Saturday, April 4, 2015; beginning with breakfast at 8:30 am at the church.

We will be ministering to local non-profit groups, service groups and city groups.

There will be a wide variety of projects which we will need help with – anything from lawn work to fencing to food prep to just joining in the prayer walk. There should be a place we can plug you in to help out. Will you be willing to help us as we reach out to our immediate neighbors?

Some of the places we plan to volunteer include: the Unzner Center, Horace Mann school, Youth and Family Center, Salvation Army, the city of Shawnee, and if we have enough interest, we can do some things here at the church as well. Plan on dedicating about 2-3 hours for service on this day, if you can. To indicate your willingness to help: contact Mary at the church office: or call 275-6111. Also, we will have an electronic sign-up on our web site and an old fashioned paper and pencil sign-up on the office window. Here is the website link: You have to click on the slideshow image to be taken to the page.

Easter Lily Orders

It is time to place your order for an Easter Lily to decorate the Sanctuary on Easter, April 5. The plants will be $15 each and we need your order in by Sunday, March 29, After the Easter service you may take your lilies home
