First Connections  -  June 27, 2014

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me.” Jeremiah 29:11-13

HELP NEEDED!

Summer Sunday School Help Sign-up

This Summer, I am working on making a great Summer Sunday School for our children from birth through 5th grade. I’d like to invite you to help teach or hold babies during the Sunday school hour (9:15-10:35am) at least one Sunday this summer, from June 1st to August 10th .  Most classes have regular teachers who are staying through the summer and just need an assistant. We will have 6 Sunday School rooms during the Sunday School hour, just as we have all during the school year. We need two people in each room, each Sunday, plus a Storyteller who is only there from 9:45-10:05am. You can also call, text, or email me with the Sunday(s) you want to help. There will also be a paper signup sheet on the Preschool Sign-in desk starting this Sunday. Thanks, Elaine Hawkins (613-1937)

This is a link to the master list in a google doc so you can sign up.

TOWELS NEEDED:

For the Youth Choir Mission Tour: Bath towels are needed; they will be donated to the mission in Chicago that the youth will be working in while on their tour.

Mission Shawnee: Shepherd’s Kids’ Café

We need your help. Each morning of the program from 8:30-10:30, we meet in our kitchen to prepare approximately 300 lunches according to a pre-set menu. We try to have them ready for pick-up by 11:00. If you can help us prepare lunches during one of the following weeks of the program, please   sign up at the church office or call us at 275-6111. We will need your phone number and the dates you can serve. Thanks in advance for your help.”  The remaining weeks are: June 30-July 3 (off July 4), July 7-11, July 14-18, July 21-25, and July 28-August 1.

The New Church Web Site is Live!

Please check it out at firstshawnee.com. We hope you will love the improvements and additions. The Public Relations committee has put in many hours and worked very diligently to make this a reality. If you see one of the committee, especially Charles Prescott or Karen Kelly – be sure to thank them for their efforts. Here is an idea – since the calendar, news and other features of the web site will be updated on an ongoing basis, you might want to bookmark it on your device so you can quickly access it.
