First Connections – December 23, 2014

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. And the government will rest on his shoulders. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

To all Preteens from Elaine Hawkins:

I hope you already received my invitation to all 4th and 5th graders to go to Bricktown on December 31st to eat lunch and go tubing at Bricktown Ballpark. Cost will be $12 for tubing plus the cost of lunch. We will leave from the church fellowship hall parking lot at 11am on December 31st and return about 4:45pm

There is a waiver you will need to sign; I have some printed off or you can download it yourself at

We will need to buy the tickets ahead of time, so please RSVP by Sunday December 28th and let me know if your child is attending. The church will pay for all the tickets early at one time, so if you could just bring your child's money on Dec. 31when you drop them off, that would be great. I really hope everyone can come!

Wednesday night program for PreTeens (4th and 5th grades)—Coming in January

We'd like to begin a new Preteen discipleship time on Wednesday nights from 6:45-8pm called "SPARK". I will lead us in deeply exploring the story of the Bible as well as learning spiritual disciplines like Bible reading, Bible memorization, prayer, gratitude, and fasting/unplugging. This time will also include fellowship, praise and worship music, and of course, snacks. We will follow the children's choir schedule. We will be starting this on January 7

        Service Opportunities

WND Helpers Needed

Starting in January, we need 2 people to help store the food following Wednesday Night Dinner. It usually takes about 30-45 min. each week. Contact Mark Burnett to volunteer.

Security Guard Job Description (from the Personnel Committee): The FBC security guard will work from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM Sunday mornings, 5-7 PM Sunday evenings, and from 5-8:30 PM Wednesday evenings. The pay is $8 hour. Job responsibilities will be to watch the north and east parking lots, watch for people entering the church while services are in progress, helping children and others cross the street after the services are over and making sure all church doors have been locked after services. Contact Mary for job application at 275-6111.

Please help the staff by bringing any 2014 contributions in person to the FBC church office no later than 10:00am on Wednesday, December 31st.  We would greatly appreciate your diligence in this matter.

In order to comply with Internal Revenue Service regulations, any mailed 2014 contribution to FBC must be postmarked by December 31, 2014.  Contributions received after this date (even if the check is written in 2014) must be reported as 2015 contributions when filing an income tax return.

IRS guidelines require that members who wish to itemize deductions must have a copy of the church’s contribution report when filing an income tax return.  Reports will be available in January.

If you took a meal to the Millers and have not already picked up your dishes, you may want to check in the church office. There is a basket full of dishes/pans on the floor behind Mary’s desk. Thank you.
